I spend about 1/2 of my coding day in Erlang, and the other half in Ruby. I love the expressiveness of Ruby but the concurrency paradigm in Erlang. Is it possible for Ruby to borrow the "Actor Model" for concurrency from Erlang? In this talk we'll learn what the Actor Model is, how we can use it in ruby gems like girl_friday, and Revactor, and we'll actually implement a small "scheduler" to see how this model works. We'll talk briefly about Akka and Erlang to understand the roots of this programming model.
