Presentation
return to ScheduleIntroduction to Ruby on Rails
Presented By: Alf Mikula
So you've been hearing a lot about Ruby on Rails, but you never had the chance to try it out? Maybe you've ventured through a tutorial or two, but you were left with more questions than you started out with?
In this session, you'll build a basic Rails application from the ground up. Get started with ActiveRecord, ActiveController, generators, routes, and HTML templates. We'll also talk about testing to keep your application maintainable, using plugins and gem dependencies, and deployment options for getting your application out in front of the world.
Bring your own laptop and be prepared to enter the exciting world of Rails web application development! You should have a basic knowledge of programming in Ruby for this session. The morning Ruby Koans session is recommended for participants who are new to Ruby, but is not required.
